Let me ask you few questions...
What's common in Amir Khan and Sachin Tendulkar?
I guess, your answer will be, both are perfectionist. Whatever they do, they do with utmost perfection. Quite right.
What's common in SRK and SRT?
Both are very much professional and threw themselves for whatever they are doing, whoever they are representing.
What's common in Achilles of the Trojan war and Sachin?
They both are greatest warriors of their times. They fought against the opponents with same vigilance.
Now, what's common between Mahatma Gandhi and Tendulkar?
They have immense faith in their disciplines and are advocate of passive resistance.
What's common in Amitabh and Tendulkar?
Being an Indian, they make you feel proud by the magnitude of skills they posses and their divine service of bringing joys to commons' lives by performing the best in whatever they do.
...and the list of questions may grow, each time you compare Tendulkar with stalwarts of any era and from any field, and again every time, you will find something common in them. That's the story of a legend. Our Sachin, wonder boy/master blaster/little wonder/run machine, whatever you call him, has all qualities which morph a human idol, and his fans into devotees. There is no wonder when you see a fan in stadium holding a board with message - "Commit your sins, God is watching Tendulkar live". It's true like Sun and Moon. When Tendulkar is playing at his best, everything stops around India . A nation of one billions virtually halts, busy roads turns into lonely passages of city, bazaars turn into silent mob. People in offices though pretend working keep following his innings. Children in schools, and even their teachers, become restless and eager as nothing to hear about their beloved's innings. If anyone holds any transistor/radio in a remote village of our country, villagers starts surrounding it. TV shops, hotels with TV suddenly become mega event organizers. Every boundary then he scores becomes the cause of celebration. Whenever he is on strike, there is pin drop silence, as if; everyone imagines themselves at the crease. Nobody wants to disturb the master. If you want to measure the highest level of concentrations, measure that of Tendulkar at crease and that of his followers across the world whenever he is at crease. I bet, in both instances, it will measure more than anything.
No one has got shoulders like Sachin. Mind it, his shoulders bear the humongous weight of wishes, by billions people of our nation. Can anyone carry this burden? Not the mightiest shoulders. 20+ productive years demanding performance and bearing continuous burden is not a human thing. There were few dark times in Tendulkar's journey till date. Critics stood against him, some declared end of Tendulkar. But every time, Tendulkar kept quite like a monk and replied on field so strongly that the proverb "Deeds speak louder than words" got new meaning on his every reply. He appointed his bat as his spokesperson.
I feel no need to repeat what he have attained statistically as a player. No doubt his statistics, his endurance, persistence, perfection, quality, stroke making makes him greatest player of game. Don also invites him. Cruel Aussies gets haunted after their 98 tour at such an extent that Warne gets his nightmares and gear makers from One day Tendulkar will retire. It’s hard to imagine cricket without the brand ambassador of game. Will there be anyone else like him who offered his services to the cricket crazy nation for 20+ long years and spread the unlimited joy like no one else? The answer is - God only knows. Years after, people will say, there was Lord Vishnu's one more Avatar before Kalki. Yes, his name was Sachin Tendulkar, 5'5" Mumbaikar, carrying a bat as weapon.
Sachin will be playing the 6th World Cup. No need to say or guess; he will try his best to achieve the beauty for his country, for one more time. The only grudge Master bears must be that in his 20 years long career he was not part of World Champ squad. No one can guess what must be going on in Master's mind? How badly will be he dreaming about it, like billions of his fans? What must be his plan? Thousands of questions arise, and with every question, curiosity touching the new horizons. Every die hard Indian cricket fan must be dreaming about April 2 when Tendulkar on Wankhede, would be kissing the most valued trophy, in all smiles. Dhoni and company giving the most desired reward to the champion. Sachin Tendulkar deserves it.
Nowadays, a new ad keeps playing on channels. Some kids are keeping cricket gears ready with their tiny hands, pouring their heart out to make someone prepared for the battle of cricket. And there comes our hero, Sachin, standing tall amongst the kid, but wearing the same natural innocence as any other Kid. Kids dress him up with gloves and pads, and a kid says "Best of luck, Sachin." Unknowingly, it touches your heart, your eyelids moistens. A chord strikes in your heart, and you come to what all it means for Sachin, and eventually for India .
Things will begin to unfold when the mega event kicks off on 19th February. Less than 15 days to go. Let's say together…Best of luck, Sachin. All the Best, India .
